Its that time of year again!! A great way to start the beginning of the New Year is to set some REALISTIC resolutions. I’m not talking about, “I am going to dedicate 2 hours every day to go to the gym!!” or “I’m only going to eat salad for dinner!”. I’ve definitely done this in the past so don’t beat yourself up over it! I’m talking about goals that you KNOW you can achieve. Things you’re already working on or will be. This year I really took my time and sat down and figured out how I want my year to look. Where I want to be. How I want to feel. I came up with 6 New Years Resolutions that will help keep me on track of where I want to stand this time next year and I hope this gives you so some inspo as well!
1. Do More Things That Make Me Happy
I’ve been through a lot of terrible situations these past few years and THIS year I want it to be different. I want to focus on my happiness and doing more things that bring a smile to my face. Believe it or not, I don’t get a lot of social interaction since I work from home. It gets depressing and makes my anxiety worse. My goal this year is to go on more walks, more adventures, read more, and socialize more!
2. Create A Healthy Eating Lifestyle
After trying diet after diet and failing to fall into a healthy eating lifestyle, I decided I had enough and took matters into my own hands. For the past 3 months, I have combined healthy eating recipes and tips from the weight clinic I was at with changing my mindset on how I feel when I eat food to get a happier healthy eating lifestyle. The type of food you eat really does impact your life. I’ve learned a lot about myself and what I like and dislike about food. I’ve learned that I am not a morning eater despite the fact that it’s the most important meal of the day. I prefer a cup of coffee in the morning, no carb homemade chili for lunch, kiwi or chips for a snack, homemade healthy sloppy joes for dinner and something small for dessert. This year, I want to improve my eating habits and pick healthier options that make my body feel good 🙂
3. Fall In Love With Exercising
I hate exercising. Period. I stay away from gyms unless it’s next to a pizza joint. But I have seen the difference in my body between not exercising and exercising. Not exercising means getting to the top of the stairs and being out of breath, unmotivated to do anything, promoting unhealthy eating habits, feeling off balance, sore body, no blood circulation, and fat will accumulate in areas of your body whether you like it or not. Exercising means getting to the top of the stairs and not feeling out of breath, you’re motivated to actually clean the kitchen, you’re seeing improvement so you’re less likely to eat junk food, your body is sore in a good way and you actually HAVE control of your body. When you’re in love with exercising, you’ll be in love with challenging your body every day! I want to wake up in the morning and not dread working out. That is my goal for the New Year.
4. Lose 50 lbs By Summer
Time to get down to business! I love my body but not my fat content. I’m not healthy and this year I want to change that. I wanted to set this number for 100 and remembered what I wrote at the beginning of this post about setting REALISTIC goals. As much as I want to lose 100 lbs by July, it’s not realistic and setting the bar that high will set me up for failure and disappointment. I would rather shoot for the moon with a realistic goal that will get me there rather than a bar that is set too high to jump over.
5. Generate Income From My Blog
I love writing posts for you guys, sharing pretty pictures and socializing with everyone on social media! I want to keep doing this. It brings out my creative side and I LOVE doing photo shoots! I have a Sony A6000 camera and I love capturing the beauty of nature and my dog being silly. This year, I am going to reach out to more people, provide more and better content, and partner with more brands. Hopefully, by doing this I can reach my goal even faster!
6. Start Up My Other Business
Besides fashion, beauty, and hair, I have a huge passion for the automotive industry. Last year, I started up a company called Sea To Sky Truck Accessories. I have been waiting for my financial situation to turn so that I can proceed with opening my business. Last week, I submitted an application to work with a certain distributor and I am waiting to hear back for approval. This is my dream and I have plans to revolutionize the truck industry!! I am also a woman working in a male-dominated environment which only pushes me to do this more given the recent campaign at the Golden Globes. I want to wake up every morning and be excited to go to work!
What are your New Year’s goals for 2018?
